About the Author – Janet Nusbaum (aka The Organizing Genie) Janet is an Organizing Consultant, Senior Move Manager, Speaker and a work-at-home mother (WAHM) of two daughters, ages 12 and 9. She holds an undergraduate degree and a graduate certification in Health Administration. While working on her Masters degree in 2000, she earned the prestigious award “Chancellor’s Scholar.” Janet has been a successful entrepreneur since 1985 when she started an event planning business in Atlanta, Ga. In 1996 Janet decided to dramatically reengineer her life by selling her After five years working in healthcare administration, Janet yearned to return to the world of entrepreneurship, due in part to be more available to her daughter’s needs. In 2003, she launched Simplified Spaces professional organizing services in 2003 and opened The Simplified Home E-store in 2005 to offer unique, time-saving, hand-picked organizing products not found in retail stores. She also owns an e-Bay store found @ http://stores.ebay.com/The-Organizing-Genie. In addition to her one-on-one organizing work with clients, Janet enjoys sharing her passion for “calming the chaos” through speaking, writing and training. As an Organizing Consultant, she has waded through all sorts of clutter and mayhem to bring serenity and order to frazzled parents, overwhelmed households, cluttered offices, and transitioning seniors and families. Janet is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM), Faithful Organizers, and her local Chamber of Commerce. In 2007, Janet was awarded the prestigious award “Organizer of the Month” by mega-site www.OnlineOrganizing.com, where she also hosts two Blogs titled “The Simplified Home” and “Moving to a Simpler Life, Where Do I Start?” and she sells her organizing product line. Janet recently launched her own blog “The Organizing Genie.” (www.theorganizinggenie.com/blog) and she is regularly featured in local and national medias, including television, radio, online and print media. As a busy WAH parent of two, Janet experiences the same organizational and time-bind challenges as other families, yet she believes in the power of an organized and structured environment that supports her family life and provides them the freedom to pursue their higher goals and priorities. Janet and her daughters reside in Westfield, Ind. with their two four-legged family (2 cats), Bingo and Chloe.

She embarked on a journey to parenthood that led her to two Russian orphanages and five trips to Russia between 1997 and 2002 to bring home her two daughters. Ten-month-old Tatyana (now Anna) joined her family in 1997. In 2002, Janet traveled back to Russia and brought home her second daughter, then three-and-a-half year old Yelena (now Alena).
